General Classroom Information:
Communication- Friday Folders will come home each Friday with classroom, school, district and community news. Emails will be sent to you throughout the year with information, reminders and classroom updates. I will send information home via email to the address listed on your child's emergency card. If you prefer another email address, please send me an email to [email protected]. I will also send text updates and daily planner information via Remind. Please sign up for that service. You can join by clicking HERE.
Daily Planner - Each day you will receive a text message with a planner page picture with an academic update and home learning information. This will communicate to you the thinking experiences we had that day as well as any home learning and/or project reminders. Please honor your child's thinking by engaging in a conversation about his/her day. HERE is a wonderful resource for talking to your child about the school day.
Home Learning- If there is a long-term project, I will send home an information sheet with details and requirements. Daily home learning will only be assigned if your child has not had a chance to complete at school, and he/she would like the chance to finish at home. Math Home Links will be sent home in packet form at the beginning of each unit to be returned on assessment day. This home practice will directly support the learning we are doing in class. Your child will decide if he/she wants to complete the home link before our corresponding lesson or afterward. This decision making and reflection is an important part of third grade cognitive development. Please help develop a home routine for this process. It is imperative that your child read to you, with you, or independently each evening. Enjoy this time.
Snack/Water- Please send your child with a nutritious snack each day. I ask that the first two ingredients of the snack not contain sugar. I would love your child to have a water bottle with them each school day. Please have your child’s name on it. It should come home every evening.
Birthday Celebrations- Your child's birthday is an extremely important event in our classroom. Our world changes for the better the day our friends are born. This year we look forward to celebrating in special ways. We also believe an important part of birthdays and growing older is choice. Therefore, your child will have a chance to choose how we celebrate as a school family: Your child may give the gift of outdoor play (recess) to his/her friends or Tinker Time inside the classroom. Both of these rituals are always a favorite in Room 22.
